Curriculum guided by industry needs
The Computer Information Systems Community regularly meets with our Business Leadership Council to create dynamic and robust industry endorsed programs of study that meet the labor market needs of business and industry in the region and result in positive employment outcomes for students.
Classroom expectations
CIS offers small class size with up-to-date equipment lead by faculty with industry experience. We also offer real world experience through our Earn and Learn Program lead by community and industry partners.

An Amarillo College CIS Student Worker receives a paid internship opportunity at Xcel Energy. Troy Cartwright entered the CIS degree program after completing several other degree programs at Amarillo College. He has been working as a student worker under the CIS Department and participating in the Bash Script Crazy Technology Club for several months before being accepted at Xcel Energy as an IT Intern. He is excited for the potential career opportunity.
