Computer Lab Policy <<Back

Access to Amarillo College's computing resources is a privilege granted to faculty, staff, and students. The College reserves the right to limit, restrict, or extend these privileges.

 

The following regulations apply to all computer equipped laboratories/classrooms at Amarillo College. Individual discipline related labs may have additional rules that apply only to that lab. These regulations along with lab specific rules will be posted in each lab on the campuses of Amarillo College.

  1. Food and drink can damage computer equipment; therefore, students should refrain from eating and drinking in computer labs and classrooms.
  2. Computer equipment should be used in a responsible, non-abusive manner.
  3. Any malfunctioning equipment should be reported to the lab assistant or supervisor; students should not turn off the equipment.
  4. All college equipment and supplies should be left in the lab.
  5. Federal and state laws concerning copyrights apply to educational computing facilities.
  6. Copying software to or from the system is forbidden.
  7. Personally owned software or hardware is not allowed in computer facilities.
  8. Computer labs and classrooms should be used for academic related activities only.
  9. Student users are responsible for their own accounts; therefore, they should not give their passwords to others or allow others to use their assigned accounts.
  10. Disks brought into the lab by students must be scanned for viruses.
  11. No children are allowed in college computer labs.
  12. Amarillo College is a no smoking facility; other tobacco products are also prohibited in computer labs.
  13. Lab directors, not students, are responsible for turning off computer lab equipment.
  14. Students should not tamper with any system configuration nor disconnect machines from the network.
  15. Students should NOT connect any personal devices to access the Amarillo College Local Area Network through network connections provided in the labs.
  16. For SECURITY and/or MAINTENANCE purposes, students should expect NO PRIVACY when using any lab computers.

Failure to comply with the policy will result in a preliminary warning. Subsequent infractions will result in loss of lab privileges and campus disciplinary action.
